PHILIPPI, WV – The Alderson Broaddus men's lacrosse team was defeated 15-5 by Chowan University in their first match of the season.
Chowan jumped out to an early lead by scoring eight goals in the first quarter.
Braxton Roman got the Battlers on the board early in the second quarter by scoring the first of his three goals. The Hawks responded by scoring two goals to give Chowan a 10-1 halftime lead.
The Hawks picked up where they left off by scoring four goals in the third quarter.
Alderson Broaddus showed signs of life in the fourth quarter when Roman, Jay Shifflet, and Logan McCulley found the back of the net.
Roman led the Battlers offensively with a hat trick. Ty Cadeau paced Alderson Broaddus with 17 ground balls.
The Battlers (0-1) will return to action on February 25 to face Frostburg State (0-0) at home at 4pm.
