The Binghamton men's lacrosse team (1-7, 0-1 AE) was defeated by UMass Lowell (4-4, 1-0 AE) 14-10 on Saturday afternoon at the Bearcats Sports Complex. Binghamton outshot the Riverhawks 48-34 and won 16-of-28 faceoffs. Lowell took an early lead in the first period, netting three straight goals. The Bearcats answered with goals from T.J. Tiernan and Griffin Konen to close out the period trailing the Riverhawks 3-2. In the second period, Lowell scored two quick goals to increase their lead to 5-2. Freshman Sean Makar and William Talbott-Shere then each netted a goal for the Bearcats to cut the lead back to one. The Riverhawks scored two more to take a 7-4 lead at the half. Umass Lowell scored four goals in the third period while Binghamton only recorded one. Talbott-Shere scored his second of the day at 12:01. The Riverhawks scored back-to-back goals to start the fourth period. Joe Licata answered for Binghamton scoring at 7:21 on a pass from Konen. Lowell scored one more before Binghamton netted four straight. Licata scored a man-up goal at 5:04 followed by two goals from Thomas McAndrew and one from Joe Grossi. Lowell scored with 1:59 remaining in the game to seal their victory and defeat Binghamton 14-10. Kevin Carbone recorded 14 saves in the net while Thomas Galgano, Sal Fama and Kyle Tiernan each caused two turnovers and picked up two ground balls for Binghamton. Austin Macchi won 11-of-17 faceoffs. Binghamton will travel to No. 12 Vermont next Saturday to take on the Catamounts at 1 p.m.
