– Frankie Labetti had a record-setting day on the faceoff X to keep Fairfield University Men's Lacrosse on the attack on Tuesday afternoon at Siena. The Stags responded to the abundance of opportunities on the offensive end, putting home a season-high 21 goals in a 21-12 victory. Dylan Beckwith led the offense with eight points on the day. Fairfield (5-2) picks up its first road win of the season with the nine-goal triumph. After an 8-8 first half, the Stags outscored Siena (2-4) by a 13-4 count in the second frame, including a 5-0 fourth frame. Fairfield has scored 11 or more goals in the second half in four of its seven games, and has been tied or trailing at the intermission of all five of its victories. Labetti went 24-30 (.800) on the draw today to set a new Fairfield single-game record for faceoff wins. Previously, Labetti shared the mark of 21 wins with Fairfield Athletics Hall of Famer and Major League Lacrosse legend Peter Vlahakis '04. In today's effort, Labetti also tied his own program mark with 15 ground balls. Rounding out his historic performance, Labetti also posted the first multi-point game of his career with a pair of assists. Beckwith led the scoring effort with eight points comprised of five goals and three assists. On the season, he is the CAA's leading scorer with 42 points (6.00 per game) and 25 goals (3.57 per game). Today's five goals made him the 11th Stag in program history with 80 career tallies. Four Stags added five points apiece in the win. Patrick Drake tied his career high with five points and also matched his personal best by distributing three assists. Bryce Ford's five points (3g, 2a) are tied his career high, and Taylor Strough netted five points with four goals and an assist. Strough and Drake each scored two man-up goals on the day as the Stags went 4-for-5 on extra-man opportunities. Finally, Brian Reda scored his second career hat trick and dished out a pair of assist to bolster his team-leading total to 20 helpers. Travis Ford added a pair of goals, Cole Barnard netted one and Hunter Keech scored his first career goal on the first shot of his Fairfield career. To round out the offense, Brendan Dreyer handed out an assist to notch his fifth career point from the defensive midfield. In addition to Labetti's work in the midfield, Lucas Pedersen snatched four ground balls from the starting LSM spot, and Beckwith corralled five ground balls to extend Fairfield possessions. James Corasaniti made 17 saves in the cage to earn the win. He is the eighth Stags' goalkeeper with 10 career victories. The defense in front of him was led by three caused turnovers from George Elmquist and three ground balls collected by Jake Tymon. MAAC leading scorer Jack Kiernan led Siena with three goals and two assists and George Rusnak netted five goals for the Saints. Anthony Tebbano made 21 saves protecting the Siena goal. After a rare idle Saturday on the schedule, Fairfield returns home to Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium to host Providence on Tuesday, March 17 at 7 p.m. The Friars, who will host Hofstra this weekend, are currently 5-1 on the year.
