Georgian Court University, winless in a pair of road contests to start the 2020 campaign, opened its home schedule Saturday with a 10-7 defeat of visiting Southern New Hampshire in NCAA Division II Men's Lacrosse action. The two foes alternated the first eight goals of the contest as the scoreboard sported a 4-4 stalemate with 12:53 to go in the third period. Thomas Heegan netted his first collegiate tally at the 11:41 mark to provide the home team its first lead of the afternoon before the Penmen countered with two-straight to regain the advantage at 6-5. GCU's Daniel Burnham knotted the score at 6-all with the sophomore's fifth of the season (7:46) before Randy Collins (sixth of season) and Thomas Levasseur (second of year) snapped the tie and provided the home team an 8-6 cushion at 1:31 in the third frame. Stephen DuBois (Jr.-Goffstown, N.H.) answered with his game-high fourth of the day for SNHU to slice the deficit to 8-7 with 8:08 to go in regulation. The scoring would seize until the final 1:58 of the match when P.J. Saracino and Dylan Pool (1:08) added a pair of insurance efforts to secure the Lions' first victory of the season (1-2). Saracino and Collins paced the victors with a pair of goals apiece. Stuart Cernoff and Ryan Rigby each achieved their first career tallies while sporting the royal and gold. Tanner Lee dished three helpers to give the senior nine assists on the young season. Austin Geisel registered the goalkeeping victory for the Lions with 16 saves in 60:00. Neal Murray (Sr.-Marblehead, Mass.) secured 10 denials in net for the Penmen (0-1). The Lions (1-2) remain home to host Molloy College (0-3) Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. in another non-conference tilt.
