Senior midfielder Lauren Ednie matched her career high with five goals and added one assist while four Seahawks finished with two goals apiece as the Wagner women's lacrosse team earned a 14-10 victory over Columbia at Hameline Field on Tuesday night. With the win, Green & White conclude the non-conference portion of their schedule with a 5-4 record while the Lions of the Ivy League fall to 4-7 on the season. Wagner kicks off Northeast Conference (NEC) play with the Western Pennsylvania swing, playing at Robert Morris on Friday, April 4 in a 6:00 p.m. start, before meeting the Saint Francis U Red Flash on Sunday, April 6 at 1:00 p.m. In addition to her six-point game on the offensive side, Ednie added a team-high five ground balls, four draw controls and two caused turnovers on the evening. Finishing with two goals apiece for the Seahawks were junior attack Marjorie Dehm, senior attack Heidi Colford, who added an assist, sophomore midfielder Megan Pendergast, and freshman midfielder Erin Kerstetter, who also collected a career-high seven draw controls, which is also a single-game high for the Seahawks this season. Three-time and reigning NEC Rookie of the Week Ally Alliegro dished out a game-high three assists while junior attack Anna Belle Reilly finished with two points on one goal and one assist, Sophomore defender Giaci Vitolo recorded a team-high three caused turnovers, to go with four ground balls. In goal, senior Lucy Darlington picked up the win, recording 10 saves in the game's first 39:07 before giving way to classmate Kelsey Fee who came on to play the game's final 10:53. For Columbia, tallying two goals each were Fallon Quinn, Chelsea Witteck, Orna Madigan, and Regan Steed. In goal, Kelsey Gedin and Abby Roberts combined for 12 saves. After Lindsey Ewertsen gave Columbia a brief 1-0 lead, the Seahawks went on a 3-0 run, with the first score coming from Ednie, and the next two out of the stick of Pendergast, as Wagner jumped ahead by a 3-1 count. The Seahawks took a 7-4 lead into the break and the Lions never got closer than three goals the rest of the way. Statistically, Columbia held a 31-29 edge in shots, while the Seahwks won both the draw control (16-10) and the ground ball battle (21-19). Wagner was 4-of-9 on free position shots while the Lions finished 1-of-3 in this category.
