The New York Tech men's lacrosse team defeated the No. 20 Bentley Falcons, 15-8, on Saturday afternoon.
The Bears led 6-5 at the half, but it was a 6-1 fourth quarter that helped Tech pull away from the nationally-ranked Falcons. The Bears scored six unanswered goals to end the game, including three from Matt Murphy.
Tech won the ground ball battle, 33-19, which helped them put up 39 shots and put 28 on goal.
Murphy scored a game-high four goals and added one assist. Lenny Innamorato netted himself a hat trick, as well.
Joseph Duchnowski and Andrew Zito each scored once and dished two assists, for a total of three points apiece.
Freshman Brendan Watt was impressive in goal once again, making 13 saves for a 61.9% save percentage.
The Bears still have a tough road ahead, as they face No. 7 Pace at President's Stadium on Wednesday. They will then travel to No. 3 Mercyhurst as part of the ECC/GMAC Challenge Cup. A matchup with Chestnut Hill will come next, before reopening ECC play at No. 8 Mercy on Saturday, Mar. 28.
Remember, the Bears defeated Dist. Columbia in the season opener on Feb. 8, so they will take a 1-0 conference record into their matchup with Mercy on Mar. 28.
