Cincinnati's Monica Borzillo scored seven goals and finished the game with 11 total points as the Bearcats handed Stetson a 17-10 defeat, Thursday at the Athletic Training Center in DeLand. Prior to the game Stetson (4-12) honored its four seniors – Taryn Cook-Grisewood, Shelby Lehmann, Sandra Stephan, and Audry Tatge – but Borzillo and Cincinnati (11-5) spoiled the Senior Day festivities. The teams battled through a fairly even first 44 minutes. Stetson trailed 8-5 at halftime, but as play moved into the second half the Hatters closed to within 11-9 on a Taylor Zuberer goal with 16:15 to go. That's when Borzillo took over. During the next three minutes Borzillo, the nation's sixth-leading scorer entering play, scored three times to give the Bearcats some breathing room at 14-9 with 11:50 to go. Riley Reagan scored her second goal of the day at 8:45 to make it a 14-10 game but the Bearcats closed play by scoring the game's final three goals. Borzillo scored her seven goals on just 11 shots. She also finished the game with four assists. Reagan had a pair of goals and added five assists as she momentarily took over the Stetson season assist record from Lehmann, who had two goals and one assist. Saige-Lyn Gidzinski also had two goals. Marina Rotella scored once on Thursday, giving her 42 goals on the season, which ties the program record. Kiera McCarthy made 13 saves in goal for the Hatters. Stetson wraps up the regular season when they host ASUN Conference leader Jacksonville, 2 p.m., Sunday.
