CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior captain Keeley MacAfee had five goals, and sophomore goalkeeper Grace Rotondo had 14 saves, but a back-and-forth affair against Columbia (4-8, 1-3 Ivy League) ended with Harvard women's lacrosse (5-6, 1-3 Ivy League) on the short end of a 15-14 score. With Columbia leading 13-11 midway through the second half, the Crimson rallied with three straight goals to retake the lead with 6:38 to play. First-year Grace Hulslander (two goals) started the rally with her goal at 15:07. A rocket by Caroline Garrity at 9:37 off a feed from MacAfee tied the game. Then MacAfee scored her final goal of the afternoon, beating the shot clock off a pass from Nicole Baiocco (two goals, assist) to make it 14-13. But Columbia scored twice in the final 3:16 of the game, with the decisive goal coming after two consecutive yellow cards on the Crimson. A back and forth first half saw both teams exchange the lead, but a late three-goal run for the Lions tied the game at 7-7 going into the break. The Crimson matched its largest lead of the first half with two goals in less than a minute from Katie Muldoon (8:40) and Hannah Keating (7:51). Muldoon was right on the doorstep after a free position shot by MacAfee for a quick rebound, then Keating scored off a great feed from Bridget Flynn to put the Crimson up 7-4 before the Lions' rally to tie the game. Harvard Highlights - Keeley MacAfee (five goals, two assists) now has 129 career goals at Harvard, moving into eighth place all-time on the school goal-scoring list. - First-year Grace Hulslander recorded a season high 10 draw controls for the Crimson - Shea Jenkins recorded a season high six ground balls, adding seven draw controls.
