Mercer (0-5) fell 10-7 to Davidson (6-0) in its second home game of the regular season Thursday afternoon at Five Star Stadium. Eva Thorn notched her first hat trick of the season, despite the loss. HOW IT HAPPENED Despite Davidson earning the first goal, Mercer's Hailey Rhatigan (2) and Eva Thorn (1) each notched goals to give the Bears the 3-1 lead. Thorne was able to halt the Wildcats retaliation 2-0 run with her second goal of the afternoon before Davidson closed out the half with another two goals to lead 5-4 at the half. Mercer was unable to find the back of the net for the first 28 minutes of the second half, while the Wildcats netted five goals to extend their lead 10-4. Thorn, Lily Morin and Kelly Hagerty scored one goal each to pull the Bears within three before officially falling, 10-7. NOTABLES Mercer registered less turnovers (18) than the Wildcats (24) while causing 15 of their turnovers. Mercer recorded nine saves, with Iseabal Cryne leading the Bears with a .474 save percentage after facing 28 shots. The sophomore also added four ground balls. Eva Thorn earned her first hat trick of the season, going 3 of 4 on shots. Audrey Robertson recorded a team-high five ground balls and a career-high six caused turnovers.
