Senior midfielder and co-captain Kate Fellner totaled two goals and a game-high four assists, while four of her teammates each chipped in four points, but UC Davis was ultimately outslugged by visiting Harvard, 21-14, in non-conference collegiate women's lacrosse action at Aggie Stadium Sunday afternoon. The Aggies fall to 1-3 for the year. The Crimson improves to 2-1. Junior Taylor Cuenin scored a team-best four goals to go with five draw controls and three caused turnovers, while fellow third-year Shannon Cross netted a hat trick with an assist. Sophomore Amanda Outcalt turned in two goals and two assists to match their point totals, while another sophomore, Maddie Myers, contributed a goal and three assists off the bench. For Harvard, Keeley MacAfee performed a double hat trick of six goals with Julia Glynn adding five more goals. Nicole Baiocco had three goals with three assists for six points. Glynn also matched teammate Marley Jenkins with a game-best six draw controls. Harvard led from wire to wire although UC Davis manage to pull within striking range at several points in the contest. Hannah Keating and Keeley MacAfee put the Crimson out to a 2-0 start, although Fellner and sophomore Sorana Larson soon responded with goals to keep the Aggies within a 3-2 deficit in just the fourth minute. Harvard continued to pile up goals, crafting a 10-4 lead by the 19th minute, but Fellner had two assists in a 3-0 Aggie run that brought the margin back to 10-7. MacAfee netted her fourth goal with 3:53 left in the first half to bring the halftime score to 11-7. Four different Crimson players hit goals in a run of four unanswered in the second half to extend the lead to 15-8, only to have UC Davis score four of the next fiive during the next four minutes of action. That cut the deficit to 16-12 by the 47th minute. Nonetheless, Harvard never let its hosts any closer than that four-goal differential, adding five more goals in the final 13 minutes of play. The Aggies shot .700 for the game, taking just 20 shots to the Crimson's 30. That marks their highest efficiency rate since the team set a school record of .722 at California in 2015. UC Davis also outdrew Harvard by a 20-17 margin, with Cuenin and Shannon Geary pulling in five each and Myers claiming another four. However, turnovers continue to plague the Aggies, this time to the tune of 25. UC Davis takes a weekend off from competition before returning to action for a March 8 home game against Robert Morris.
