PHILADELPHIA - A history-making day for Drexel sophomore Karson Harris did not end the way that she or the team would have wanted, as the Dragons fell to Delaware on Friday afternoon, 13-11. Harris, who finished the day with nine draw controls, set a new program record with the third of those, her 74th of the season. She finished the day with 80 thus far on the year, a new Drexel women's lacrosse record with two games still to play this season. Harris added four goals and an assist to lead the way for the Dragons (6-8, 1-3). Grace Osterdale scored three times, her first career hat trick. She also added an assist. Maggie Stetson had a pair of goals, Colleen Grady scored one with a helper, and Claire Jarema added a goal to round out the scoring for the Dragons. After taking a quick 1-0 lead on Osterdale's first of the day, the Dragons saw Delaware rattle off five consecutive goals to build a 5-1 lead midway through the first half. Drexel got back on the board with 11:57 to play before halftime, a Harris goal that made it 5-2 and opened up a 5-0 run that Drexel could call its own. The run was capped by Harris' third of the day just 2:09 before halftime, giving the Dragons a brief 6-5 advantage. Delaware would respond, however, and knotted things at 6-6 as intermission hit. In addition to tying the score before the break, Delaware scored the first three goals of the second half to build a 9-6 lead. Osterdale and Harris scored just over a minute apart at the 22:38 and 21:25 marks, respective, pulling Drexel back within one at 9-8. It was 11-9 Delaware when, with 15:53 to play, Stetson scored the first of two consecutive goals for the senior from Berwyn, evening things back up at 11-11 with 6:19 to play. That would be the end of the Dragons' offensive push, however, as Delaware grabbed the lead back with 4:22 on the clock and added an insurance goal two minutes later to finish off the victory. Harris finished with nine draw controls on the afternoon, matching her total from March 30 against Robert Morris for the second-most draws all-time in a game for a Dragon. Harris holds the all-time record as well with 12 at William & Mary on April 7. The Dragons will get back to action on Sunday in a must-win game for their postseason hopes at Towson. That game is set to get underway at noon.
