(4/7/2019) -- Senior attacker Lexie Kinmond recorded nine points and junior midfielder Kaitlyn Wandelt set a new school-record with 11 draw controls as the University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse team completed a 2-0 weekend with a 20-5 road victory over Delaware State on Sunday afternoon. Kinmond scored five goals and tallied four assists for her season-high-tying nine points. Wandelt added five goals and one assist for a season-best six points, securing 11 of the 17 draw controls in the contest. Wandelt also established a new school record for draw controls in a season. With her 11 on Sunday, she has 82 on the season, breaking her own school record set last year of 77. Senior midfielder Morgan Girardi had three goals and one assist and sophomore attacker Kamryn Corraro had two goals and two assists as each played notched four-point games for the Titans, which improved to 1-1 in Southern Conference play in the victory. Detroit Mercy scored 20 goals for the second-straight contest and out-scored their opponents 43-5 during the two road games over the weekend. Eight different Titans found the back of the net against the Hornets with senior attacker Emma Leszczak adding two goals. Sophomore attacker Kristina Ellis and freshmen Jess Turner and Julianne Snyder both each added goals for Detroit Mercy. The Titans took a 5-0 lead in the first 12 minutes of the contest, before Delaware State scored the next two goals. Detroit Mercy scored the next six, using a 6-0 run to finish the half and take an 11-2 halftime lead. Girardi, Kinmond and Wandelt all scored first-half hat tricks for the Titans with Kinmond tallying six points in the first half. Wandelt, Snyder and Corraro began the second half with back-to-back-to-back goals as Detroit Mercy led by 12 goals, 14-2, early in the second half. After DSU scored two-straight, the Titans scored six of the final seven goals with five different Titan players scoring during that stretch. Turner scored for the second-straight game late with just 3:36 left and Leszczak scored her 12th goal of the 2019 campaign, just one off her career-high. Senior goalkeeper Allison McDonough and sophomore GK Maddie Johnson split time in net with the pair combining for three saves. Detroit Mercy held a 39-10 advantage in shots during the game, including a 32-8 edge in shots on goal. The Titans also had a 17-8 advantage in draw controls. Freshman Elise Harder and Kinmond each added three draw controls in the game in addition to Wandelt's school-record 11 DC.
