The Arizona State lacrosse team (5-3, 0-2 Pac-12) opened a three-game home stand on Friday night at the Sun Devil Soccer/Lacrosse Stadium, hosting the Oregon Ducks in the first home conference game in program history. The Sun Devils ultimately fell to the Ducks, 14-6, in their first loss at home. "It was our first Pac-12 game at home and I think was an exciting one for the fans," said head coach Courtney Martinez Connor. "I think our team did a great job at the draw. I think our goalie (Berkeley Bonneau) played outstanding. One of our attackers coming in from the sideline, Avery Hamill, certainly stepped up and was a spark for us on the field. Unfortunately, it didn't translate to a win, but as we talk about with our team over and over again, it's baby steps for getting better and better. That's certainly our focus." Arizona State staged a late push, scoring five of its six goals in the second half, led by Avery Hamill who notched her first career hat trick. Coming off the bench, the sophomore scored three goals in the last 18 minutes of the game. Junior co-captain Kerri Clayton notched a point late in the game, scoring her team-leading 29th goal of the season. Freshman Julia Burns added a goal and an assist for the Sun Devils. Freshman Taylor Carson was the fourth different scorer for the Sun Devils, recording her 13th of the season. In the cage, sophomore goalkeeper Berkeley Bonneau recorded a career-high 15 saves. The Sun Devil defensive unit caused five Ducks turnovers, and picked up 16 ground balls. Junior Rachel Gregory led the team with five ground balls, a career high. Up next the Sun Devils will look to pick up their first conference win against the No. 15 Colorado Buffaloes. The team will host Colorado on Sunday, March 18 at 11 a.m. MST. Admission is free to all fans attending the games at Sun Devil Soccer/Lacrosse Stadium. The game will also be streamed live on pac-12.com/live for fans unable to attend.
