The action continued back and forth throughout the first half resulting in a 9-9 tie heading into the half. After halftime, the Titans rattled off three straight goals taking a 12-9 advantage over the Red Flash with 24:23 remaining. Senior Morgan Day (New Park, Pa./Kennard Dale) was able to score off of a nice setup from freshman Autumn McHenry (Branford, Conn./Branford) to bring the Red Flash within two scores. In response, Detroit Mercy put together a 5-0 scoring run extending its lead to 17-10 creating too much of a deficit for Saint Francis to overcome. Inside the Box Score The Titans outshoot the Red Flash 43-27. Both teams were able to disrupt the others offense. Each team caused 19 turnovers. Detroit Mercy won the draw control battle 19-14. Saint Francis was successful on 13 of its 18 clear attempts. UDM earned 11 free-positions shots, five more than SFU. Notes: Morgan Day (New Park, Pa./Kennard Dale) led the Red Flash offense with six points on six goals. She was one goal short from matching her career-high. Paige Brady (Drexel Hill, Pa./Monsignor Bonner Archbishop Prendergast Catholic) tallied five assists, the most by an SFU player since Katie Schaaf (Ellicott City, Md./Hebron) in 2013. Livia Baker (Fallston, Md./Fallston High School) added two goals, scoring at least one in her last seven games. Amanda Heidt (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) and Emileigh Scott (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) each chipped in two goals for the Red Flash in the loss. Peyton LeConte (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) caused two turnovers and gathered six groundballs. Goalkeeper Ashley Stoessel (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown East) made nine saves, scooped-up three groundballs, and caused a turnover. Up Next Saint Francis opens conference play on Friday, Apr. 5 when it hosts Mount Saint Mary's at 1 p.m.
