BARRINGTON, IL - The Benedictine University men's lacrosse team kicked off the 2018 season with a loss to Carthage in an indoor contest
• Benedictine started the contest strong

• Corbin Gett, the program's all-time leading scorer, took advantage, scoring the first goal of the year on a feed from Randy Patrick
• Carthage peppered the cage the entire contest, but Benedictine opened a 2-0 lead with 4:52 left in the opening quarter on a Patrick goal with Gett returning the favor
• Carthage scored back-to-back goals to tie the game, earning the equalizer with just over a minute left in the first
• Will Reece III picked up a groundball following a turnover to begin the second and Nick Wood put Benedictine ahead again at 3-2

• Carthage found the back of the net six times in the second and led 8-3 at the half
• Shut out for nearly two straight quarters, Benedictine opened the fourth with a goal following a faceoff win when Anthony Leahy collected his first of the year on a helper from Reece III
