Staten Island, NY – Wagner senior attack Megan Drum and sophomore midfielder Madeline Seims poured in four goals apiece as 12 different Seahawks found the back of the net in a convincing 23-5 victory over Presbyterian on Sunday at Hameline Field. In winning its sixth consecutive game, the Green & White improve to 7-2, matching the 2001 team for the best nine-game start to a season in program history. In defeat, the Blue Hose of the Big South Conference fall to 1-9. Today's win concludes Wagner's non-conference schedule as the defending Northeast Conference (NEC) champion Seahawks begin their seven-game league schedule on April 5 in a home contest vs. Robert Morris. Sophomore midfielder Victoria Tucci added three goals and one assist, while senior Stephanie Roberts and freshman midfielder Amy Rzemieniewski chipped in with two scores apiece. For Rzemieniewski, these marked the first two goals of her career. Sophomore attack Stefani Peluso (1g, 2a) and freshman midfielder Ally Turner (1g, 2a) finished with three points apiece. Also notching points on the afternoon for the Seahawks were sophomore midfielder Erin Kerstetter (1g, 3a, game-high 8 draw controls), junior attack Stephanie Falcone (1g, 1a), junior attack Meghan Pendergast (1g, 1a), junior midfielder Cassidy Hall (1g), and freshmen midfielders Maria Henwood (1g), and Sarah Fisher (1g). All told, four different Seahawks tallied the first goals of their respective careers today in Rzemieniewski, Henwood, Turner and Fisher. Junior Lindsay Haas led Wagner defensively with three caused turnovers, part of a 15-CT effort for the Seahawks. Wagner zoomed out to a quick 6-0 lead, with three of the scores coming from Drum, before Presbyterian notched two straight goals to make it 6-2 with 17:54 left in the opening half. This is as close as the score would get as the Seahawks rattled off eight unanswered goals in building a 14-2 halftime lead. The Blue Hose sank the first two goals of the second half to cut the deficit to 14-4 before Wagner closed the game on a 9-1 run in fashioning the final score of 23-5. Wagner dominated the game statistically, holding a comfortable advantage in shots (51-8), ground balls (33-11), and draw controls (22-8). Redshirt senior goalie Kelsey Fee was credited with the win while playing the game's first 44:26 before freshman Lauren DeStefano came on to record Wagner's lone two saves over the final 15:34. Madison Berg led Presbyterian with two goals on the afternoon while goalies Kayla Koch and Heidi Shafer combined to record 16 saves in the face of Wagner's relentless offensive pressure.
