– The Kennesaw State lacrosse team could not get into a groove Thursday afternoon against league-leading Jacksonville as the Dolphins hounded the Owls to force 28 turnovers on the way to a 20-3 result. How it happened: The Dolphins (12-3, 5-0) set the tone early, jumping out to a 3-0 lead less than five minutes into the game. JU built that lead up to 9-0 before Siena Gore finally got the Owls (6-9, 1-3) on the board with 8:30 to go in the half. Emily Napierala netted a goal just a few minutes later looking to spark a late run for KSU, but the Dolphins and Owls traded goals in the final minutes to head into the locker room down 10-3. The second half was all Jacksonville as the No. 3 scoring team in the nation, extended its lead to 10 goals, 13-3, at the 21:42 mark to earn a running clock. The Dolphins shut out the Owls in the second half, pushing their lead to 20-3 following a goal with 38 seconds left to play. Notes: Siena Gore led the team with two goals, the first time this season she has scored less than three goals in back-to-back games … Emily Napierala's goal marked her 15th of the season … the Dolphins out-shot KSU 34-11 in the game … KSU finished 2-for-4 on free position attempts … Siena Gore (5), Payton Gregory (2) and Roslyn Talbert (2) all tied their season-highs for ground balls … Siena Gore logged a career-high three caused turnovers and led the team with six draw controls, while sister Marissa recorded three to mark only the third game this season in which she recorded less than five draw controls … KSU's 28 turnovers marks only the second time the Owls have recorded more than 25 turnovers in a game this year … Alex Bunn finished with seven saves. Up next: The Owls host Stetson for their final home game of the 2019 season, squaring off with the Hatters on Senior Day at 1 p.m.
