EASTON, Pa. – Sophomore Quinn Lacy made a career-high 17 saves for the Lafayette women's lacrosse team on Saturday afternoon, but the Lafayette offense couldn't sustain a high-scoring pace as the Leopards dropped a 16-12 affair to Saint Joseph's. Lacy's performance was the best for a Lafayette net-minder in just shy of nine years, with her 17 stops the most since a 20-save performance from Emily Bjork at Lehigh on March 20, 2010. The Glen Head, New York native faced 45 shots on the afternoon and now carries an 8.70 goals-against average with a .573 save percentage. Following an even first half of play, the second stanza was a different story as the Leopard offense went cold in the final 20 minutes. Back-to-back goals from senior co-captain Emma Novick and junior Bella Alampi put Lafayette's lead at its largest with 20:09 left, up 12-3. However, Alampi's tally proved to be the final one for the Maroon and White as Saint Joseph's scored the final seven goals to swing momentum and ride out a road victory. Four different Lafayette players netted multi-score performances, led by a hat trick from senior Jane Kirby. Novick, classmate Mairead Janzer and sophomore Colleen Bannon tallied two apiece, while sophomore Anna Stein added three assists. Freshman Caroline Curnal and senior Hannah Davey were a force in the circle, winning eight draw controls each on their way to a 20-10 edge overall. Senior Elise Ashford and junior Dulcie Del Priore each recorded a caused turnover on the defensive side. Shots finished at 45-25 in favor of the visitors, but the Hawks held just a slim 17-16 edge in ground balls. The Maroon and White went 4-of-13 on free-position opportunities and allowed just two from the eight-meter spot on the other end. Lafayette goes out of conference on Wednesday for its next contest, traveling to Binghamton for a 7 p.m. tilt with the Bearcats.
