AMHERST, Mass. – The trio of Kiley Anderson, Cassidy Doster and Hannah Palau accounted for 11 goals as the UMass women's lacrosse team cruised to a 21-9 senior day victory over George Washington at Garber Field on Saturday afternoon. The win notched a perfect 9-0 run through the A-10 schedule as UMass finished the regular-season with a 14-3 overall record. The Minutewomen will enter the 2019 Atlantic 10 Championship Tournament as the No. 1 overall seed next weekend in Fairfax, Va. The Maroon and White will be going for its league-record 11th A-10 championship title. Hosted by George Mason, the Atlantic 10 Championship tournament will begin next Thursday, April 25 with the quarterfinals. As the No. 1 seed, the Minutewomen will receive a bye until Friday's semifinal round and will play the No. 4 Saint Joseph's/No. 5 VCU winner. Friday's semifinal match-up has been set for a 1 PM opening draw. Information on the entire 2019 bracket, tickets, directions, live streaming video and more can be found at www.Atlantic10.com. Prior to Saturday's game, UMass honored the senior group of Anderson, Doster and Palau. Anderson finished with a game-high five goals and tied Stephanie Croke (4g, 2a) for a game-high six points. Both players also hauled in seven draw controls with Anderson moving into second all-time at UMass with 208 for her career. Palau scored four times while Doster added two sparking the Minutewomen's offense in the second half where UMass outscored George Washington 11-3. Kaitlyn Cerasi added five points on three goals and two assists, while Haley Connaughton scored twice and added an assist. Lauren Hiller picked up her eighth win of the season making six saves. The Colonials (5-12, 3-6 A-10) were led by Tori Hampton and Katie Quinn who each tallied three goals. Alana Green added two more to round out the offensive leaders. Olivia Ouimet started the game in cage but was lifted in the third minute for Jenna Oler who made 15 saves in the loss. GW took an early lead after a three-goal stretch put the Colonials up 4-2 at the 23:51 mark of the first half. UMass countered with a three goal run of its own capped by Palau's first goal of the day to give the Minutewomen a 5-4 lead just over six minutes later. After back-to-back goals from Quinn put GW back up, the Minutewomen closed the first half on a four-goal spurt taking a 9-6 lead into halftime. Goals by Doster and Connaughton to start the second half pushed the lead to five and the Colonials were able to stay close through the midway point of the stanza. The UMass defense clamped down from there holding the Colonials scoreless over the final 12:43 of the game with the offense piling up seven straight goals including two each from Palau and Anderson. Overall, the Minutewomen held a commanding 48-to-19 advantage in shots and won 23-of-32 draw controls in the game.
