The Colorado College men's lacrosse team fell to No. 4 Salisbury University, 19-3, on Sunday to complete the first of three trips to the East Coast with a 1-1 record. Freshman goaltender Ben Anastos stopped 14 shots, but the CC offense was unable to solve the Salisbury defense and goaltender T.J. Ellis, who finished with eight saves before leaving the game late in the third quarter. The Sea Gulls struck for the first six goals before Declan Maguire put the Tigers on the board 47 seconds into the second quarter off a feed from Anders Erickson. After Salisbury stretched its lead to 10-1, CC's Dylan Brown scored off of a pass from Conrad Song. SU added the final two goals of the first half to build a 12-2 cushion after 30 minutes. Erickson added the game's final marker with 55 seconds remaining and led the Tigers with a goal and an assist. He also picked up a pair of ground balls and caused a turnover. Salisbury won 18 of 25 faceoffs, and the added possessions resulted in a 49-31 advantage in total shots and a 42-21 margin in ground balls. Jarrett Bromwell led the Sea Gulls with five goals and six points, while Cross Ferrara finished with four goals and an assist. "It's been close to two years since we lost a game, so this one really stings," head coach Sean Woods said. "Salisbury is one of the best teams in the country, but that's no excuse to lose the way we did. "Our team knows we are much better than we played today. And while we weren't ready to beat a team of this caliber today, we will work very hard over the next few weeks to prove that we can beat a team like this next time we head out East. Colorado College Standouts Brown and Erickson led the Tigers with six shots apiece. Jack Haims recorded two ground balls and a caused turnover. Salisbury Standouts Kevin Murphy had six ground balls and a caused turnover. Notes Colorado College slipped to 5-1. Salisbury improved to 4-1. Next for the Tigers Colorado College returns home to face Southwestern University and Centenary College in back-to-back Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference games on Friday, March 26.
