PHILADELPHIA - After coming within a pair of goals midway through the second half, Temple lacrosse (4-10) went scoreless the rest of the way while allowing three goals in a 13-8 non-conference loss to Villanova (9-6) at Howarth Field. Game Summary > Temple was never able to gain a lead in the game, but had the score tied at 4-4 late in the first half. > The Wildcats scored the final two goals of the opening half and the first three of the second half to take the lead for good. > Although the Owls committed three fewer turnovers, the Wildcats came up with 16 draw controls to Temple's seven. Devin Hassinger had 10 draws for Villanova and is among the nation's top 10 in that category. > Villanova out-shot Temple 30-23 overall including a 19-9 lead in the first half. The Wildcats' Alexa Moro came up with nine saves in goal while Temple's Maryn Lowell had five saves. > Down 9-4, Temple mounted a comeback attempt in the second half and cut the Villanova lead to 10-8, but could get no closer as the Wildcats scored the final three goals over the final 11 minutes. Individual Highlights > Maddie Gebert led the Owls with three goals for her fifth hat trick of the season, and also tallied one assist. > Meghan Hoffman notched a goal and an assist, while Amber Lambeth, Quinn Benintende, Olivia Thompson and Jen Rodzewich scored one goal each. Bridget Whitaker, the Owls' leader in assists, recorded one in the game. > Both Lambeth and Courtney Taylor tallied three caused turnovers apiece for the Owls, while Whitaker came up with a team-best four draw controls. Quotable - Head Coach Bonnie Rosen > "I think our effort was excellent in terms of the intensity level we played with. I was pretty happy with that part. Obviously the end result isn't what we wanted. The hard part is watching some of the little unforced errors we're still making that are making it harder for us to win games. But overall I thought the team came out with a lot of energy and fought hard for 50/50 balls...there were a lot of really positive things from the day." > "We're ready to get ourselves to our tournament and our next game against ECU is our path to doing that. We're looking forward to Saturday. We knew this game was a stepping-stone part of the week to getting us ready for that game. We'll have a very short memory for this loss because we're turning around and getting ready for an exciting game." Up Next > The Owls will play their final home game at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 20 against AAC foe ECU. Temple's four seniors will be honored prior to the game for Senior Day.
