ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Seniors Austin Blumbergs and Jackson Rose propelled the St. Bonaventure men's lacrosse team past Cleveland State, 12-5, Friday evening at the Marra Athletics Complex. Rose began the scoring for Bonaventure with 3:56 left in the first period by receiving a pass from Blumbergs, and as he was falling to the ground he was able to fire one into the back of the net for his team-best 14th goal of the season. The Lakeway, Texas native would go on to complete the hat trick with his 15th and 16th goals of the season in the second period. The Bonnies (4-2) recorded four unanswered goals to end the first half with an 7-3 lead. Blumbergs scored four goals on the night with his final goal capping the Bonnies fourth victory of the season. Junior Jake Rosa added on to the scoring in the second half with his 12th goal on the season, while also dishing out two assists. St. Bonaventure also received contributions in the goal category from Conor Murphy, Cian Collins, and Sean Westley. Senior Ryan Burns tallied his first point of the season with a goal midway in the second period. Westley, Anthony Cimino, and Brady Wijbrandts each had an assist for the Bonnies. In the cage, Brett Dobson made 19 saves, bringing his total to 99 saves on the season. Cleveland State (1-4) was led by Ryan Haigh (two goals) and Jason Sullivan (two assists). In net, goalkeeper Cameron Logan made 12 saves for the Vikings. St. Bonaventure controlled the game in most of the statistical categories. The Bonnies outshot the Vikings by eight, scooped up six more groundballs, won five more faceoffs, and saved seven more shots. Next up the Bonnies will travel to Cleveland State to complete the home-and-home series with the Vikings on Sunday March 13. Game time is scheduled for noon.
