(Cary Street Field) Records: VCU (4-4, 1-0 A-10), Duquesne (5-2, 0-1 A-10) The Short Story: With the game tied 8-8 and 7:33 left before halftime, VCU scored four of the next five goals to take a 12-9 halftime lead. The Rams never trailed again and led by as many as seven goals in the second half. QUICK FACTS Sky Hyatt scored a game-high eight goals as she eclipsed 200 career points. She added two assists and six draw controls. Molly Barcikowski also eclipsed 200 career points as she scored three goals and added five assists. Keriann McTavish scored three goals and had one assist along with three ground balls. Jenn Nonn, Clare Murhpy and Sofia Emond each scored once. Murhpy, Blaire Langeler and Bella Evans-Riester and Savannah Slack had one assist. VCU and Duquesne were even on total shots at 45-45 with the Rams holding a 36-29 edge in shots on goal. Maddie Hart scored five goals to lead the Dukes. HOW IT HAPPENED VCU trailed early after Duquesne scored the game's first two goals to lead 2-0 with 27:13 left in the first half. The Rams scored three of the next four goals to tie the game 3-3 with 21:10 before halftime. After the Dukes retook the lead at 5-3 with back-to-back goals, VCU scored five of the next six to take an 8-6 lead with 9:34 left in the first half. The game was again tied at 8-8 but VCU took a 12-9 lead into halftime after scoring four of the final five goals in the half. VCU held off Duquesne in the second half, notching a lead as big as 19-12 with 11:39 remaining. The Dukes got no closer than six goals the rest of the way.
