Anderson also tied her career high with 16 draw controls which was just two shy off the school record set by Hannah Murphy in 2017 against VCU. In goal, Lauren Hiller made her first start of the year making four saves in 49 minutes to pick up the win. Gina Carroll closed out the final 11 minutes of action making three saves. The Rams cut the deficit under 10 in the first seven minutes of of the second half, but UMass was able to extend the lead back to 21-10 on Connaughton's third of the day at the 14:03 mark. A string of yellow cards in the final five minutes of play gave the Rams several man-up advantages including a pair of non-releasable penalties which led to two of VCU's final three goals of the game.
