FOND DU LAC, Wis. - After getting pushed back a day, the UD lacrosse team traveled up to Marian for a non-conference battle on Sunday afternoon, where they would fall, 16-8. It did not take long for action to get going as Marian would win the opening faceoff and race down the field for the first goal of the game in 12 seconds. The Spartans took advantage of a Sabre penalty midway through the first quarter with a Tanner Weis man-advantage goal from Will Robinson. The score would not remain 1-1 for very long as Marian would answer back with a goal of their own 58 seconds later. After Marian added another goal to make it 3-1, Tanner Weis would respond with his second goal of the opening frame to get the Spartans back within one goal. Marian would score four unanswered goals over the end of the first quarter and beginning of the second to put the Spartans in a 7-2 hole with 10:28 left before halftime. UD would punch right back, getting goals from Zach Schmitt, Will Robinson and Tanner Weis over the next five minutes to claw their way back into the game at 7-5. However, that was as close as UD would get for the remainder of the contest after Marian would explode with the next five goals. Tanner Weis led all scorers with four goals on nine shots. Will Robinson would add two goals and two assists of his own. The Spartans are off until Saturday, Mar. 20 when they host MSOE at 2 p.m. at Oyen Field
