ELMHURST, ILL. – The Elmhurst men's lacrosse squad took down the University of Dubuque Spartans 15-7 at Langhorst Field. In the first quarter Elmhurst (9-3) scored five goals off-of 19 shots. Andrew Frerich led the Bluejays with two of the goals to lead the Spartans (4-8) 5-2. Ben Luke recorded a hattrick just in the second quarter, leading Elmhurst's 4-0 run and 9-2 at the end of the first half. After a Dubuque goal at the beginning of the second half Marcus Yandall scored his second goal of the day to regain the 7-goal lead. Ryan Moran scored a transition goal off a pass from Frerich with five minutes left in the third quarter. Frerich posted a hattrick in the last second of the third quarter to give Elmhurst the 13-3 lead. The Spartans won the fourth quarter, edging the Bluejays 4-2 in goals scored. Luke capped things off with his fifth goal in the final minutes of the game to secure the 15-7 victory, lifting Elmhurst to 2-1 in the CCIW. Elmhurst was led by Luke's seven points, five goals, and two assists on the night. Yandall added five points while Frerich recorded four of his own. Jake Grebe and Ben Burke posted two points each to add to the Bluejays victory. Ryan Camarata had an impressive night leading the Bluejay defense and recording four caused turnovers. Jake Delgado made nine saves while letting in seven goals on the night. Dubuque was led by Tanner Weis's four goals. Will Robinson added two points while two other Spartans recorded one goal each. Ryan Gartner had an impressive night in the net, posting 23 saves and allowing 15 goals. Game Notes Elmhurst totaled 67 shots while Dubuque posted 33. The Bluejays won the ground with 35 ground balls to the Spartans' 23. Elmhurst dominated at the face-off "x", winning 19 of the 26. The Bluejays return to Langhorst Field on Saturday, April 24th as they host Illinois Wesleyan at 1:00 P.M.
