The No. 10 Stony Brook women's lacrosse team got back to its winning ways on Friday night, topping Towson, 14-8, at Johnny Unitas Stadium. QUOTING HEAD COACH Joe Spallina "Tonight was an important game for us coming off of a tough loss and we were excited to see our response to adversity. I like the growth this past week in preparing for a very good Towson team. It was great seeing some different players step up tonight and make a major impact. That's what a team is all about. We are excited to get back for our home opener on Sunday in front of the best college lacrosse fans against a very good Stanford team. It's a quick turnaround so we will be studying hard. The team has their scouting reports ready as we prep for a huge test." HIGHLIGHTS Ally Kennedy (North Babylon, N.Y.) led the way with four goals, scoring Stony Brook's first two goals of the game from free position shots. Kennedy's third goal of the game came just 10 seconds into the second half as she controlled the opening draw and sprinted down the field for the score. Nicole Barretta (Exton, Pa.) earned a hat trick with her final two goals coming back-to-back in the second half to put the Seawolves up by six. Jesse Arline (Wading River, N.Y.) had a career day, putting up five points from one goal and four assists. Arline's goal was her first of the season and came with just 17 seconds left in the clock in the opening half. A total of eight different Stony Brook players got on the board with goals also coming from Keri McCarthy (Hauppauge, N.Y.), Rayna Sabella (Mount Sinai, N.Y.), Siobhan Rafferty (Long Beach, N.Y.), Taryn Ohilmiller (Islip, N.Y.) and Sara Moeller (Phoenix, Md.). Anna Tesoriero (Huntington, N.Y.) made eight saves in the win. NOTES The game was back-and-forth at the beginning with each team trading goals until Stony Brook scored three unanswered to take a 6-3 lead at halftime. The final two goals of the run were scored with under a minute left to play in the first half by McCarthy and Arline. The Tigers started to claw back into the game in the second, scoring three goals in a row to cut its deficit to three, but it was all Stony Brook for the remainder of the game as the Seawolves laid claim to the final four goals of the evening. In the first half, Stony Brook outshot Towson, 20-8. Sabella, Ohlmiller and Kennedy have scored in all three games so far this year. Stony Brook is now a perfect 5-0 all-time against Towson. With 125 wins at the helm of the program, head coach Joe Spallina is just two wins away from collecting his 200th as a head coach. NEXT UP The team finally comes home to Kenneth P. Lavalle Stadium for its home opener, hosting Stanford at 12 p.m. on Sunday,
