After a pair of tough losses, lacrosse got back on track with their best offensive production to-date as they cruised past Becker College by the final of 24-5 Monday afternoon at Alumni Field. THE BASICS UMass Boston 24, Becker College 5 UMass Boston (2-3) Becker College (0-3) HOW IT HAPPENED With three different players recording four goals in the non-conference win, the Beacons finally ended a tough three-game skid. The Beacons all but secured the victory in the first quarter as they jumped out to a commanding 9-0 lead. From there UMB continued to pick apart their opponent scoring four more goals before the halftime to take a 13-2 lead into the break. Over the final 30 minutes, UMB never let off the gas as they tacked on five scores in the third, before closing out the win, with a six-goal fourth quarter. The Beacons defense held the Hawks to just three goals over the final two frames. Joe Mauceri (Scituate, Mass.) and Clay Arnold (Syracuse, N.Y.) led the attack with six points each. Mauceri was part of the four-goal trio. He also had two assists in another standout performance for the freshman. Arnold has continued his team-leading play as the senior tallied two goals and four assists. Conor Lenfest (Waltham, Mass.) and Josh Holmes (Weymouth, Mass.) were also a-part of the four-goal crew, with Lenfest also tallying one assist. Dalton Ring (Holliston, Mass.), had a solid day of-his-own as he registered three goals and an assist for his first four-point performance of the year. Tommy Selander (Milford, Mass.) and Jack O'Brien (East Longmeadow, Mass.) combined for five caused turnovers, and collected seven ground balls respectively. Jacob Sinclair-Steeves (North Reading, Mass.) was nearly perfect on the face-off "X" as he went 15-for-18, while Tom Redmond (Scituate, Mass.) was just as consistent finishing 9-for-10 on the opening draws. Between the pipes, a trio of goalies stepped into Monday's contest. Cameron Dixson (Wayland, Mass.) earned his first career win, after making a pair of stops, while only allowing two goals against in the first two frames. BY THE NUMBERS On the day the Beacons goalies finished with eight saves, while the attack outshot Becker 70-22 The Beacons 10 straight goals to open Monday's contest marked a season-best for UMB; It also ended a two-game skid in which UMB was held scoreless through the first 15 minutes On the face-offs UMB was 27-for-31, while they were also 13-for-16 on clear attempts The Beacons special teams finished 1-for-5 on man-up opportunities; Becker did not have a man-up chance in Monday's loss The Beacons combined for 31 ground ball pick-ups, including 12 in the second quarter WHO'S NEXT The Beacons will host Regis College on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
