TOWSON, Md. – Tuesday night the Towson University women's lacrosse team fell to No. 19 Johns Hopkins at home in a 10-3 final. The Tigers saw one goal each from Natalie Sulmonte, Shelby Stack and Hannah Hobbes. Towson returns to action this Sunday at No. 10 James Madison for a noon start. The Tigers move to 2-8 on the year. How it Happened Johns Hopkins struck first, 56 seconds into the game, and the home team responded less than a minute later. Natalie Sulmonte scored the first Tiger goal, her 25th of the year. With a 1-1 tie and 28:06 left in the first half, it seemed as if the game would be a back and forth scoring ordeal. That was not the case as the Blue Jays scored the four goals unanswered, taking a 5-1 lead. Shelby Stack tallied her 12th score with 1:59 remaining until halftime. The teams entered the locker room with a 7-2 lead after Hopkins scored twice more in the final 47 seconds. Beginning the second half, neither team saw the back of the net until 12 minutes in. With 18:33 left, the Blue Jays extended their lead to 8-2 before tacking on another goal four minutes later. A scoring drought opened from the 14:30 mark until 1:50 was left on the clock. Sophomore Hannah Hobbes scored her first goal of the year on a free position attempt, the final point for the Tigers. Johns Hopkins scored its 10th goal 41 seconds later. Beyond the Box Goalie Kiley Keating had 10 saves Tuesday night, her sixth game this year with at least 10 goals. With her goal tonight, Natalie Sulmonte has scored one goal in nine of Towson's 10 games this season. Up Next This weekend the Tigers open Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) action at James Madison, the 10th-ranked Dukes host the conference rivalry game with opening draw set for noon.
