LA PLUME, PA – The Cabrini men's lacrosse team wrote its name in the NCAA record book with today's 26-1 win at Keystone College. The win marked the Cavaliers' 103 consecutive Colonial States Athletic Conference victory, breaking the previous NCAA mark of 102 held by Salisbury University. The Blue and White's conference win streak dates back to an 18-8 loss at Wesley late in the 2000 season. Head coach Steve Colfer took over the program the next season and has not lost to a conference foe in his 17-plus seasons, including 16 consecutive conference championships. The No. 15 Cavaliers (6-3, 2-0 CAC) dominated today's action, outshooting Keystone 56-5, including 40-3 in shots on goal. The Blue and White controlled the action from the opening whistle, as sophomore Timmy Brooks scored the game's first goal less than one minute into the action. Just over a minute later, sophomore Jordan Krug posted a hat trick in less than 20 seconds and the Blue and White was off and running. After building its early lead, Cabrini showed no signs of let-up, building a 17-0 lead at the half. Krug paced the Cabrini offense with a career high eight points. The sophomore matched career highs with four goals and four assists and joined the program's 100 career point club early in the first quarter. Freshmen Tyler Kostack and Drew Hanna added five points each, as the rookie duo combined for five goals and five assists. Fellow freshman Jake Klein paired a goal with three helpers. Brooks and fellow sophomore Bill Morgan tallied three goals each, while freshmen Mike Gerzabek and Harrison Schadt matched their three points, recording two goals and an assist each. Freshman Tyler McKee scored the first two goals of his collegiate career, while fellow freshman Bobby Cressman marked the scoring column for the first time. Twenty-two Cavaliers recorded at least one ground ball on the day, with junior Josh Moore leading the way with a career high seven, one more than Cressman and two more than senior Patrick Regan. Senor Colin McGavin helped anchor the defense with a career high four caused turnovers, while junior Robby Jenette added three. Sophomore Nick Vass and freshman R.J. Wolf caused two each. The Blue and White dominated the faceoff spot, going 29-31 at the X, and scooping 54 ground balls to just 14 for the Giants. Junior Riley Michaels and sophomore Trey Critides posted 10 faceoff wins each, while Cressman went 9-9. Freshman goaltender Matt Nestler recorded Cabrini's only two saves of the day before being replaced by sophomore Riley White at the half. Caleb Strope scored the lone goal for the Giants (1-7, 0-2 CSAC), while goaltenders Nicholas Vazquez and Dean Orofino combined for 14 saves in the loss.
