PHILADELPHIA - The Senior Day victory was never in doubt as Temple lacrosse jumped out to a 5-0 lead and never looked back, dominating visiting ECU (5-11, 0-4) in an 18-5 victory. The Owls (5-10, 2-2) clinched the fourth and final spot in the American Athletic Conference Tournament with one regular season game remaining. Keys to the Game > Temple took 23 shots on goal to the Pirates' 12, and collected 16 draw controls to ECU's eight. > The Owls set the tone right off the bat with a goal in the opening minute. Less than eight minutes in, they had a 5-0 lead, and stretched it to 11-3 by halftime. > Temple got nearly its entire bench involved, and had first career goals by two freshmen. > The Owls allowed just two second-half goals and finished the game on a 3-0 run for their largest lead of the day. Individual Highlights > Maddie Gebert and Olivia Thompson scored four goals apiece to lead Temple, with Gebert adding an assist. > On her Senior Day, Quinn Benintende scored twice, while senior Amber Lambeth also got on the board. Meghan Hoffman also posted two goals - one of five Owls who scored multiple goals on the day. > In the closing stretch, freshman Lauren Zinkl scored both her first and second career goals, while freshman Wynston Archer also notched her first career goal. > Bridget Whitaker posted a goal and two assists along with collecting three draws. > Leading the Owls on the draw was Kara Nakrasius with six. > Molly Luderitz, Michelle Koscinski and Courtney Taylor all recorded two caused turnovers in the win. Quotable - Head Coach Bonnie Rosen > "Everything about today was special. From Senior Day to celebrating Lily's good health to getting our first home win and seeing everyone play - just great performances today and we've extended our season for sure into our conference tournament. You can't ask for a better day. And some sunshine, which we don't take for granted!" > "Very clearly, all year long, when Maddie and Olivia have good shooting days and good possession days, we win. It's no surprise to see how many goals they ended up with today. They're really important to generating opportunities and to setting momentum. They both played very well within themselves and allowed the whole offense to work. The day got off to a pretty sharp start because of that and because of our ability to control the draw." Up Next > Temple will play its final regular season game at AAC foe Vanderbilt on Saturday, April 27 at 1 p.m.
