FERRUM, Virginia -- Derek Farwell's eighth and final goal of the game lifted Ferrum College to an 11-10 overtime win over Methodist University in non-conference men's lacrosse action this afternoon at W.B. Adams Stadium. RECORDS Ferrum (2-2) Methodist (1-2) THE BASICS Ferrum faced a two-man-down disadvantage coming into the first overtime, but staved off the Monarchs' scoring bid and the teams were even with 10 men each on the field a minute into the extra period. Farwell then found the back of the net off a pass from Malachi Maxwell to close it out. The two teams played evenly through the first quarter with Methodist holding a 4-3 lead. Farwell netted two of Ferrum's goals, while Jack Sheehan had the other. Farwell added three more goals in the second quarter to give Ferrum a 6-4 lead at the break. Ferrum led by as many as three goals in the third quarter, only to see Methodist come back to knot the game at 8-8. Mockoy Bodmer gave the Panthers a 9-8 lead to close out the third. The Monarchs put two goals on the scoreboard to open the fourth quarter and take a 10-9 lead with just under 11 minutes left to play. Farwell tied the game on his seventh goal with 6:44 left in regulation, then scored the game-winner with 2:05 showing on the clock in overtime for the thrilling finish.
