DURHAM, N.H. – Senior Mikenzie Larivee (Amherst, N.H.) scored twice on Senior Day as the University of New Hampshire's women's lacrosse team fell to No. 16 Stony Brook University, 17-5, on Sunday afternoon at Wildcat Stadium. UNH goalie Issy Torres (Elmhurst, Ill.) was credited with 10 saves, making seven in the second half. Torres now has six double-digit save efforts on the season. Caroline Hernon (Hampton, N.H.), the reigning America East co-Defensive Player of the Week, finished with two draw controls, one ground ball and one caused turnover. Taylor Dudek (Amherst, N.H.) had a team-high three GBs. Rylee Leonard (Coventry, R.I.) was the other Wildcat to record multiple points with a goal and an assist. Stony Brook was led offensively by Taryn Ohlmiller (2g, 3a), Ally Kennedy (4g), Siobhan Rafferty (3g, 1a) and Sarah Pulis (3g, 1a). Anna Tesoriero made one save and exited the game with the Seawolves leading 17-4 at 5:06. UNH finishes the regular season with a 10-6 overall record and will be the No. 3 seed in the America East Championship tournament with a 5-2 conference record. Stony Brook won its ninth consecutive game to improve to 13-4, 7-0. UP NEXT UNH advances to the America East Championship at Stony Brook's LaValle Stadium. Click here to vote. FIRST HALF UNH controlled the first draw of the game, but Stony Brook entered its attack zone and opened the scoring at 27:50 with a goal from Keri McCarthy. Sara Moeller sent a pass behind the net to McCarthy, who curled around to rip a shot. The Seawolves increased their lead to two on Rafferty's goal at 26:12. Stony Brook gained possession off a draw control and rushed into the Wildcat zone for a scoring opportunity that was stopped by Torres. Unable to clear the ball, the Wildcats were put back on defense and Rayna Sabella scored a goal for the Seawolves at 25:54. The score increased to 5-0 with a free position goal at 25:42 from Ally Kennedy and Rafferty's second goal of the game at 23:55. At 22:11, Pulis charged into the fan sent a shot to the upper left side of the net. Less than a minute later, Sabrina Tabasso scored off a free position shot at 21:02 to make the score 7-0. Rafferty completed a hat trick at 20:19 with a shot to the lower right side of the goal. Following that, Ohlmiller set up behind the net and sent a pass to Kasey Mitchell for a one-time shot resulting in a 9-0 score at 19:03. Stony Brook scored two free-position goals less than two minute apart by McCarthy and Kennedy to extend the margin to double digits, 11-0, at 16:12. Pulis increased Stony Brook's lead once against with two consecutive goals at 10:45 and 8:34. Ohlmiller scored the next two, followed by Kennedy for a 16-0 score at 3:33. The half concluded with Torres saving a free-position shot and corralling a ground ball on another free position attempt to thwart another SBU threat. SECOND HALF UNH won the opening draw control of the second half and entered Stony Brook's zone, where senior Teagan Northrop (Longmeadow, Mass.) took a low shot that entered the bottom of the net, but was ruled no goal. Leonard put the Wildcats on the board at 26:11 after capitalizing on a Stony Brook foul. Leonard cut across the fan and ripped a shot for the unassisted goal. Larivee posted up in front of the crease and received a pass from Leonard, who sent the ball across the fan, and Larivee one-time shot it into the goal at 21:37. Northrup continued the Wildcats' momentum with a goal at 16:40. On a free position from the right side, freshman Abby Cranney (Amherst, N.H) passed the ball across the face of the goal to Northrup cutting towards the crease. The UNH defense held Stony Brook from scoring for the first 15 minutes of the half but Kennedy broke through and scored at 14:55 to give the visitors a 17-3 lead. While on a player-up advantage, Larivee decreased the deficit again with a free-position goal at 5:47. Senior Devan Miller (Bristol, R.I.) scored another free-position goal at 1:14 for a final score of 17-5. UNH NOTEBOOK UNH's six seniors – Larivee, Miller, Northrup, Jessica Lee (Southington, Conn.), Catherine Sexton (Niskayuna, N.Y.) and captain Elise Chandler (Hopkinton, Mass.) – were honored postgame. New Hampshire won six of its last nine regular-season games. This is the fourth consecutive season UNH advances to the America East Championship tournament. The Wildcats lost 12-11 at UAlbany on April 6. Leonard extended her point streak to 15 games. Larivee extended her goal and point streaks to nine games. Miller has a six-game goal streak.
