Marina Rotella and Taylor Zuberer each scored three goals but it wasn't enough for Stetson in a 19-8 loss to Marquette, Sunday at the Athletic Training Center. The Hatters (0-5) opened the game by falling into a 6-0 hole and never recovered. "We got out worked today and that's what it comes down to," Stetson head coach Christy Leach said. "There wasn't anything in particular that Marquette did. They worked harder than us. We couldn't dig ourselves out until late in the second half." Marquette (4-4) led by as many as 13 goals on two different occasions. Up 16-4 at halftime, the Golden eagles quickly took a 17-4 advantage before the Hatters mounted a comeback. Stetson ripped off four straight goals, as Rotella (3) and Zuberer combined for all four scores to get the Hatters within 17-8. But with a running clock, the Hatters were unable to truly get back in the game as Marquette scored their last two goals in the final 3:38. For the game, Marquette owned a 31-24 advantage in shots, including a 24-15 edge in shots-on-goal. Grace Gabriel led Marquette with four goals. The Hatters next host Bryant, Noon, Sunday, March 17.
