Senior Sheila Nesselbush matched her career high with five goals and junior Selena Lasota had a season-high seven points to lead No. 8 Northwestern to a dominant victory over No. 21 Notre Dame, 20-10. Seven different Wildcats (11-3) had at least two points as they extended their winning streak to six games. The 'Cats have already matched their win total from a season ago with three regular-season games remaining. Senior Shelby Fredericks dished out a game-high three assists and dominated the draw circle all game long, winning 12 on her own while Chicago's Big Ten Team held a 26-6 advantage overall. In addition to her five goals, Nesselbush had a season-high five draws. Sophomore Lindsey McKone and first year Brennan Dwyer each had a pair. The Wildcats opened up the game on a goal by junior Holly Korn that sparked a 4-0 run and they never looked back. After the Fighting Irish (7-7) scored their first goal of the game over 10 minutes in, sophomore Megan Kinna scored a goal in a woman-up advantage to start another 3-0 run that pushed the lead to 7-1. The Irish were able to cut the lead to 9-6 just under two minutes into the second half, but the 'Cats responded with 9-2 run over the next 18 minutes to build a 10-goal lead. Korn scored her second of the game on an assist from first year Jill Girardi to turn the momentum back in the 'Cats' favor and Lasota scored four goals during the stretch, including three in a span of just a minute and 33 seconds. Sophomore Sara Szynal scored her third goal of the season on an assist from sophomore Meghan Duffy with 2:33 remaining, marking the first time in her career she has scored in back-to-back games. The scoring wrapped up with junior Olivia Harpel's first career goal on a free position shot. Senior Lindsay Darrell and first-year goalkeeper Julie Krupnick led the way with three ground balls apiece, while Krupnick allowed just eight goals and made seven saves in 55:02 to earn her 11th victory of the year. The Wildcats will look to keep their winning streak alive when they start a stretch of three-straight Big Ten games at Penn State next Saturday, April 14. They will return home for their final home game of the regular season on Saturday, April 21 versus Rutgers.
