The Oregon lacrosse team earned its first Pac-12 win of the season in a 12-8 victory over California at Pape Field on Friday evening, highlighted by a hat trick from sophomore midfielder Claire Domshick and 12 saves from freshman goalkeeper Rachel Hall. How It Happened: Cal scored the first goal of the game, before freshman midfielder Jamie Level and sophomore attacker Lillian Stump tallied back-to-back to bring the Ducks into the lead. The Golden Bears responded with another two goals of their own. Oregon pulled away and never looked back with a 4-0 run to extend its lead to 6-3. Senior Madeline Reece began the game-changing run with her third goal of the season on a free-position shot. Domshick scored her first goal of the contest, followed by a goal from sophomore midfielder Haileigh Farrell and a second goal from Stump. California scored once more in the first period. Sophomore attacker Marlee Moon Gaddy recorded one final goal for the Ducks with 40 seconds remaining in the half to bring the score to 7-4 headed into halftime. Hall played a key role defensively in the first half with 10 stops on 21 shots. The Ducks defense was equally effective in the second half, holding off Cal from scoring for the first 16 minutes. Level registered her second goal during that time. Attackers Shannon Williams and Emily Munro put up two more goals to bring Oregon to a 9-6 advantage with nine minutes remaining. Domshick cemented the win for Oregon with back-to-back goals in the last six minutes for her second hat trick of the season and a final score of 12-8. Notables: Hall reached her 200th career save with 12 saves in the game… Eight Ducks scored in the win over California… Domshick and Stump led the way with three points each… Stump registered three points on two goals and one assist… Reece had four of Oregon's six draw controls. Quotable: Head Coach Chelsea Gamble On Oregon's victory over California: "I'm super proud of the way we competed for those 60 minutes. To have eight different scorers was pretty awesome and a good testament to the kind of edge we've been trying to find on the offense. Defensively, we just really were able to shut them down. We came off the USC game last week super disappointed in the way we prepared and showed up. The team came back ready to work this week, and I'm super happy with the way we finished tonight." On the performance of goalkeeper Rachel Hall: "She's unreal. She's someone that every day shows up to practice ready to work. I think when she's on, she's on, and no one really knows how to stop her. It's been really awesome to see her continuously seeing 40-50 shots per game and coming up with 10-15 saves for us. She gives us a lot of confidence in the backfield. I'm really excited to see how she progresses throughout her career. Being able to see that many shots and get that many saves, especially as a freshman, is pretty amazing." Goalkeeper Rachel Hall On her 200th career save: "An accomplishment like this is something I've been eyeing since high school, but I really owe a shout-out to my defenders for showing me shots I want to save and the shots I can save." On Oregon's first conference win of the season: "It's been a long time in the making now, and I wish we could have gotten it earlier. But it feels amazing, one of the best feelings honestly." Up Next: The Ducks close out the weekend in a rematch against No. 18 Stanford on Sunday at Pape Field at 1:00 p.m.
