PITTSBURGH - Maddie Hart netted her third straight hat trick for Duquesne as the Dukes fell to visiting B1G foe Penn State by a score of 17-6 on Tuesday afternoon at Arthur J. Rooney Field. HOW IT HAPPENED Goals by Maddie Hart and Alana Piano gave the Dukes (8-7) a 2-1 lead just three and a half minutes into the contest. The Nittany Lions (6-7), who have made seven straight NCAA Tournament appearances, responded with 15 consecutive goals to gain a 16-2 advantage. Duquesne outscored PSU 4-1 the rest of the way as Hart found the back of the net two more times in addition to scores by Kirsten Barnes and Samantha Cirino for the Dukes. KEY STATS Hart had a team-high three goals for the Dukes. She has tallied 11 goals and three assists in her last three games. She added a game-high five caused turnovers and three draw controls. Sarah Kollhoff led Duquesne with six ground balls to go with three caused turnovers and three draw controls. Maria Auth led the Nittany Lions with three goals and a pair of assists. NEXT UP The Dukes look to secure their first appearance in the Atlantic 10 Championship hosting La Salle in a pivotal conference matchup this Saturday at noon at Rooney Field.
