PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Sophomore attacker Taralyn Naslonski scored four goals, including three in the second half, as Rutgers women's lacrosse (3-2, 0-0) dropped a 15-5 contest to No. 12 UPenn (3-0, 0-0) Wednesday night at HighPoint.com Stadium. For Naslonski, it marked the fourth time in five games she has collected two or more goals, as the Randolph, New Jersey, native also added a team-high four draw controls and a ground ball against the Quakers. On defense, junior Brianna Cirino had a team-high three ground balls and two caused turnovers, while rookie goalkeeper Kameron Halsall earned seven saves in the loss. UPenn outscored the Scarlet Knights, 9-3, in the second half to secure the road win. Three Quakers tallied three or more goals, led by four from attacker Gabby Rosenzweig. Reigning Ivy League Defender of the Week Mikaila Cheeseman stopped a game-high nine shots for the win. "We were outmatched tonight," said head coach Laura Brand Sias. "I don't think we put together a great performance to beat a team like Penn. We needed to put together our best performance from top to bottom, and I don't think we came out prepared to do that. It was a missed opportunity, but credit to Penn." Rutgers scored first, as Naslonski converted an unassisted strike for the 1-0 lead at the 25 minute mark in the half. Senior captain Abbey Brooks added a goal with 13:41 to go in the half, but the Quakers used three consecutive goals to make it 6-2 at halftime. Naslonski was effective in the second half, as she netted three goals down the stretch. Her final goal of the night proved to be the most impressive, as she dashed past a host of UPenn defenders and put it between the goalie's legs for the score. Through RU's first five games, Naslonski leads the program with 28 points and 16 goals. Rutgers has a quick turnaround, as it travels to Philadelphia on Saturday for a noon matchup with Drexel.
