CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—Despite an early shooting match, the Harvard women's lacrosse team came up short against No. 12 Penn, 17-9, this afternoon at Harvard Stadium. The Crimson closes out the season with a 6-9 (1-5 Ivy) overall record. Leading the scoring for the Crimson, first-year Grace Hulslander and Keeley MacAfee each tallied a hat trick in this afternoon's contest, with MacAfee ending the day with four goals total. In addition, Hulslander dominated the draw control for Harvard, collecting six on the day, while also tallying two caused turnovers. Early domination on the draw gave Penn the early advantage over the Crimson, taking a 2-0 lead just minutes into the game. Strong movement in front of the Quakers' goal gave Tessa Queri the opportunity to cut the lead in half off a pass from Nicole Baiocco at just under five minutes into the contest. With Penn maintaining the advantage off a man-down goal, Keeley MacAfee kept the Crimson within one off a free-position shot, before locking both teams at three goals apiece. Harvard and Penn engaged in a back-and-forth shooting battle until Penn ultimately took 9-5 lead off a five-goal scoring run to end the half. Penn came out firing in the second period, scoring six unanswered goals to run out to a 15-5 lead over Harvard. Despite offensive pressure from Madison Conklin, Hulslander and MacAfee in the final minutes of the contest, Penn ultimately emerged with the victory.
