The University of Richmond women's lacrosse team tallied a season-high 16 first-half goals and never looked back on its way to a 20-2 victory over Presbyterian on Tuesday afternoon at Robins Stadium. Thirteen different Spiders scored in the win, including Keegan Heher, Kendall Wisinski and Mekenzie Montgomery, who all tallied their first career goals. Senior Katie Sciandra's goal in the first half put her at 100 points in her Richmond career after spending her first season at Towson. This marks the second-straight game that the Spiders have hit the 20-goal mark, as the team posted a 20-5 win on Sunday over Old Dominion. Presbyterian started the scoring just under three minutes into the contest before senior Aly Fries tied the game off an assist from Sam Geiersbach. The Blue Hose took a 2-1 lead under a minute later, but Lauren Kingsbury's unassisted score at the 24:40 mark would tie it up again, and Marissa Brown's tally just 30 second later would be the game winner. Kingsbury's goal sparked a 19-0 run for the Spiders, who scored six times in less than two minutes to take a 7-2 advantage. Scoring in that span along with Kingsbury and Brown were Geiersbach, Fries, senior defender Julie Ball and fellow senior Mia Castagnero. The Spiders didn't let up, as they received goals from Julia Schmuckler, Katie Sciandra, Heher, Geiersbach and Wisinski, as well as a pair of goals from both Brown and Ostrick, to take a 16-2 lead into the locker room. Geiersbach finished the opening half with four assists, while Kingsbury had two and Brown and Sciandra each had one helper. Heher scored her second goal of the afternoon to open the half on an assist from Schmuckler, before Sophia Madsen scored twice in a row, assisted by Sciandra and Ostrick. Montgomery rounded out the game's scoring after she collected the ground ball off a shot and sent it past the Presbyterian keeper. The Spiders held a 39-5 edge in shots, as well as a 19-5 advantage at the draw. Brown scored a game-high three goals in the win, while Geiersbach led the Spiders with four assists, all in the first half. Ball led the way with seven draw controls, while Evelyn Roberts and Ostrick both caused three turnovers to lead the team. Ostrick also led the Spiders with five ground balls. Megan Gianforte and Danni LeServe split time in cage for the Spiders in the win. Richmond will now hit the road for a matchup with Villanova on Saturday, March 16. Game time in Villanova, Pa., is set for 1 p.m.
