Three Keys To The Game Savannah Clarke tied her career-high with 19 saves on 43 total shots. Ashley Easterday secured her third hat trick of the season. Kyra O'Gorman kept her scoring streak alive, finding the back of the net for the fourth-straight game. ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. — The Bonnies fought hard against perennial Atlantic 10 power, UMass, but ultimately came up short against a talented Minutewomen squad, falling 19-8 Sunday afternoon at the Marra Athletics Complex. The Bonnies 1-13 (0-6) got out to a great start defensively, allowing only one goal over the first 10 minutes to a UMass team averaging 17.46 goals per game. Kyra O'Gorman got the Bonnies on the board at the 20:50 mark with her eighth goal of the season, and fifth over her last three games, to make it 1-1 after 10 minutes. That's when UMass (11-3, 6-0) showed how good their offense, ranked second in the NCAA in points per game with 26.17, could be. Over the next five minutes, they scored five goals to make it 6-1 Minutewomen. But the Bonnies were able to respond and claw their way back into the game. Rylee Arnold came sprinting in unassisted from the right side to score her 23rd goal of the season and Ashley Easterday followed two minutes later with her 14th. The Bonnies and Minutewomen traded goals over the next two minutes. Brindley Anderson scored to extend the lead back to four, but Destinee Johnson answered right away with her 15th of the season and first of two on the day. However, UMass regained control right before halftime, over the last nine minutes they closed on a 3-0 run to take a 10-4 lead into the break. After half, UMass looked like they might run away with it, starting on a 3-1 scoring run to make it 13-6. The lone goal Bonnies came from Olivia MacDonald, her ninth of the season and third over her last two games. But the Bonnies wouldn't go away. Led by Easterday and Johnson, SBU went on a 3-0 scoring run to cut the deficit to 13-8 with 13 minutes to play. Both Easterday's goals were unassisted as she posted her third hat trick of the season. Johnson's strike came from the free position, the lone Bonnies goal from the arc on the afternoon. Easterday's final goal was the last the Bonnies were able to get. UMass closed on a 6-0 run to and walked away with a 19-8 victory. In net Savannah Clarke tied her season and career-high with 19 saves on 38 shots, just three off Morgan Conroy's all-time record of 22 in 2017. The Bonnies were outshot 43-25, outdrawn 23-5 and were successful clearing on just 21 of the 27 attempts. The Bonnies are off until Friday when they head to VCU for their second-to-last road conference tilt of the year.
