ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. — Goals from seniors Rylee Arnold and Abby Lagoner on Senior Day weren't enough for the St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse to keep up against Duquesne as the Bonnies fell, 18-5, to the Dukes on a rainy Sunday at the Marra Athletics Complex. The Dukes (8-6, 3-5 Atlantic 10) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead just 90 seconds into the game with two unassisted goals. But the Bonnies (1-15, 0-8 A-10) were able to answer right back with unassisted goals from Arnold and junior Destinee Johnson. Duquesne scored less than 40 seconds later to get their one-goal lead back, but Julia Davidson quickly answered after she collected a feed from Johnson and converted for her ninth goal of the season for a 3-3 tie. For Johnson, the assist marked her 10 multi-goal performance and increased her team-leading point total to 37. But that would be the last Bonnies goal for nearly 25 minutes, and over that span, Duquesne went on a 13-0 scoring run to break the game wide open and make the score 16-3. Abby Lagoner broke the drought with 17:13 remaining in the second when the senior, off a pass from senior Olivia MacDonald, scored her first goal of the season and the eighth of her career. It was MacDonald's first assist of the season, seventh of her career, and her 39th career point. The Bonnies scored once more before time ran out. Arnold connected on an unassisted goal with 11:16 left in the second for her 77th career goal and 96th career point. The rain heavily impacted Sunday's game. The sloppy conditions contributed to a combined 53 turnovers between the squads - 28 for Bonaventure and 25 for the Dukes. Duquesne was credited with 21 caused turnovers, four off 10th all-time in NCAA Division I history. Kathryn Yoder and Andrea Hill tied for the Bonnies team lead with three apiece. Both teams struggled to clear - SBU was 16-for-23 and Duquesne was successful in 19 of 27 clear attempts - and there were 75 total ground balls. Rebecca Howe led all players with six ground balls, a new career-high for the freshman. In net, Savannah Clarke had six saves on 24 shots faced. Prior to the game, the Bonnies honored their five seniors – Arnold, Lagoner, MacDonald, Kathryn Yoder and Aniesah Miller. The Bonnies have one more game left this season, a road contest against Davidson on Friday at 1:00 p.m. ----- Stay connected with St. Bonaventure athletics through social media.
