Emmitsburg, Md. (March 30, 2019) – Mount St. Mary's scored five goals in the final 8:18 of action to come from behind and top UC Davis, 11-10, on Saturday in the team's final non-conference game of the season. The win was the fifth straight for the Mountaineers, as they have now matched their best start to a season in program history with an 8-2 record. The Mount trailed by a 10-6 margin late in the contest after UC Davis rattled off four consecutive goals, but Jordan Butler started the comeback for the Mountaineers with her score off a feed from Jordan Groover at the 8:18 mark. Kate Kinsella followed with an unassisted tally with 6:00 remaining to make it a two-score game, and Butler struck again with her fourth goal of the contest at the 5:14 mark to cut the Mount's deficit to 10-9. Under a minute later, Groover worked her way towards the cage and beat goalie Taylor Mathieson for the game-tying goal with 4:27 remaining. After a short stretch of scoreless play, Groover found the back of the net once again with just 26 seconds left to put the Mountaineers on top, 11-10. On the ensuing draw, Emily Davis picked up the loose ball and sent a pass ahead to Butler, who was able to evade the defense to run out the clock, as the Mount came away with the 11-10 victory. Butler scored four goals in the contest to lead the way for the Mountaineers as she recorded her fourth straight game with four or more goals. Groover registered two goals, one assist and four draw controls, and Kinsella added a pair of goals. Emily Davis notched one goal to go along with a team-high five draw controls. Jillian Petito made 11 saves to collect her eighth win of the season. Petito now has five double-digit save performances on the year. Taylor Cuenin paced UC Davis with four goals, while Shannon Cross and Mar Alvear finished with two scores apiece. Amanda Outcalt added a game-high three assists. Mathieson took the loss in goal for the Aggies despite making nine saves. The Mountaineers open Northeast Conference play on Friday, April 5 at 1 p.m
