The College at Brockport men's lacrosse team opened the 2019 campaign on Saturday, falling to a strong Clarkson University, 16-4. The Golden Eagles start the season with a mark of 0-1 while the Golden Knights improve to 2-0 on the year. HOW IT HAPPENED – Brockport came out strong, erasing an early Clarkson lead, and posting a 2-1 edge after scores from Billy Coppola and Brendan Halleran with three minutes to play in the opening quarter. Brockport saw their lead erased as the Knights netted back-to-back scores in the final minute of the opening quarter. The Green and Gold fell behind in the second frame, as Clarkson netted five unanswered goals. Coppola halted the Knights scoring streak, bringing the Golden Eagles within five. Brockport went into the half time break trailing, 8-3. The Golden Eagles stepped up the defense in the third quarter, holding Clarkson to only a pair of goals while Patrick Sheridan worked in his first score of the day. Clarkson started the 4th quarter with a quick three goals, Sheridan was able to stop the attack with another goal of his own. The two teams traded a goal apiece to end the game.
