OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's lacrosse team lost a 16-12 decision to Alfred University at home on Tuesday afternoon. With the loss, the Lakers drop to 2-4 on the year while the Saxons improve to 4-2. Oswego was on the board first with a goal a little more than two minutes into the contest. Alfred answered with a seven-straight goal run that proved to be enough despite a valiant Laker comeback. The Lakers outscored the Saxons 11-9 following the away team's run, but Oswego was only able to crawl to back within four at 14-10 with 13:12 left in the fourth. Both squads fired in two more goals in the latter parts of the final period to arrive at the 16-12 score. Senior Zach Anderson and freshman Tim Schof led Oswego with four-point games each, both coming on two goals and a pair of assists. Freshmen Caleb Alford and Dan Doolan were next with three-point outings, tossing two scores in the back of the net while assisting on another. Each player's assists came on one of the other's tallies. Freshman Kyle Bacon and sophomore Jarrod Wilkom rounded out the point scorers for Oswego on Tuesday, finishing with two goals apiece. Five players on defense finished with a caused turnover, as Tim Garrett, Teddy Phillips, Bacon, John Petrelli and Jon Chapman each forced one Saxon mistake. Garrett paced Oswego with seven ground balls on the day while Phillips and Joe Noce had five apiece. Chase Izyk won 11-of-18 chances in the faceoff circle, scooping up four ground balls in the process. In net, Wyatt Russo made 11 saves for the Lakers as his record moves to 1-4 on the year. Oswego will return to the field at 1 p.m. on Saturday when it travels to Keuka College to face the Wolves.
