The AB men's lacrosse team earned their first victory of the season, taking down Davis & Elkins College 14-11 on Wednesday night. The win marked the first for second-year head coach Ace Mallonee. Kyle McFadden scored the first of the Battlers' four goals in the first quarter at the 10:07 mark. Senior Connor Calmbacher called his own number and scored the next two goals for AB. The Senators raced back to take a 4-3 lead but Ty Cadeau evened the score with a goal with 1:39 remaining in the first quarter. Cadeau gave the Battlers the lead early in the second period. The Senators regained the lead with quick back to back goals. Calmbacher and D&E exchanged goals, giving D&E a 7-6 advantage with 7:57 remaining the first half. Jay Shifflet tied the game, launching AB on a 4-0 run to end the half. The Battlers built their lead to 12-8 by the end of the third quarter. AB tacked on two more goals in the fourth quarter, courtesy of Logan McCulley and Tanner Delorme. The Senators scored three goals of their own in the fourth quarter, but were unable to get within striking distance of AB. Calmbacher led AB with five goals in the victory. Cadeau added two goals and an assist while McCulley found the back of the net twice. On the defensive side, Braxton Roman caused two turnovers and scooped up eight ground balls. Alderson Broaddus (1-4) will host Lake Erie College (2-4) on April 13 at 4pm.
