The Lincoln Memorial men's lacrosse team dominated the first quarter, but Alabama-Huntsville controlled the pace the rest of the way to spoil the Railsplitters' home opener with a 14-12 victory in Harrogate on Wednesday afternoon. Lincoln Memorial (2-4) led 4-1 at the end of the first quarter and remained in front midway through the second quarter until the Chargers (1-3) rattled off a 6-1 scoring burst that carried deep into the third. Suddenly trailing 10-7, the Railsplitters scored three goals in the final 90 seconds of the third quarter to send the match to the fourth knotted at 10-10. Lincoln Memorial briefly led 12-11 on a goal by Chris Tucker at the 6:47 mark of the fourth, but Alabama-Huntsville scored three unanswered goals after that and shut out the Railsplitters over the final six minutes to secure the 14-12 win. Three different players tallied three points apiece for the Railsplitters. Reggie Golfin and Chad Walters scored a team-high three goals, with all of Walters' goals coming in the second half. Ian Cook had two goals and an assist, while Kyle Arcuri had a goal and two assists. Chris Tucker scored twice, while Robert Tucker added the only other goal for the Railsplitters. Brody Phillips led the UAH offense with four goals. Luke LeVette and Zach Ranta had two goals and an assist, while Nicholas Ranta chipped in a goal and two assists. Adam Zois produced a pair of goals as well. Two goals from Cook sparked the Railsplitters in the first quarter as Lincoln Memorial outshot the Chargers 12-6 to build a comfortable 4-1 lead. Alabama-Huntsville flipped the script in the second quarter, though, outscoring the Railsplitters 4-1 behind two goals from Phillips, including one with five seconds left in the half to send the two teams into the locker room squared at 5-5. The Chargers kept it going in the third quarter and established a 10-7 lead with less than two minutes to play in the quarter until goals from Arcuri, Walters and Golfin tied the match at 10-10 with one quarter left to play. Goals from Walters and Tucker briefly put the Railsplitters in front 12-11 late in the fourth, but UAH took the lead for good with a goal by LeVette at the 4:44 mark. Ranta added an insurance goal with 1:21 left and the Chargers milked the clock in the final minute to secure the victory.
