THE BASICS Score: Dean College 10, Rivier University 6 Records: Dean College (3-1), Rivier University (0-3) Location: Grant Field, Franklin, Mass. Date: Tuesday, March 6, 2018 Time: 3:00 PM THE LEAD: Brody Fredericks (Weare, N.H.) and Colin Hinrichs (Greenwich, Conn.) continued their season-long offensive assault and host Dean College raced past Rivier University, 10-6, in non-league men's lacrosse action on Tuesday afternoon. Fredericks totaled three goals and two assists, while Hinrichs – the two-time New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) player of the week – had his second four goal game this season. HOW IT HAPPENED: It was actually Rivier who got on the board first as Dylan McSparren scored less than four minutes into the game and that was followed by Sean Brady connecting with Liam Ryan for a 2-0 Raider lead more than ten minutes into the contest. Dean finally broke through when Marcus Richardson (Newton, Mass.) delivered a pass to Hinrichs for his first of the afternoon with 2:52 left in the period. The Bulldogs then evened the score when Anthony Trasacco (Cheshire, Conn.) kicked off his big afternoon with an unassisted strike before the quarter ended. Each team had a goal in the second with Colby Larsen finding the back of the net for the Raiders and James Lovely (Hopedale, Mass.) teaming up with Fredericks for Dean to even the score going into halftime. Trasacco (three goals, three assists) gave the Bulldogs their first lead when Fredericks found him for a man-up score less than a minute into the third quarter. Rivier quickly answered with McSparren notching his second of the contest but Dean went on to score the next three goals to seize control of the contest. First, Trasacco connected with Fredericks for consecutive markers less than two minutes apart and then Hinrichs added one of his own a few minutes later to give the Bulldogs a 7-4 edge. After Ryan took advantage of an open net and scored a man-up marker, Trasacco and Hinrichs teamed up to give the four-goal cushion back to Dean. As they did in the third, the Bulldogs responded to a man-up Raider score with a goal of their own. This time it was Lovely feeding Hinrichs and then Fredericks helped cap the scoring when he setup Trasacco for the game's final score with a little more than three minutes left. INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Dean held a slight 30-24 edge in shots and won 11 of 18 faceoffs. Meanwhile, Madison Olsen (Norton, Mass.) recorded nine saves in net for the Bulldogs, while Raider netminder, Matt Cloutman, finished with 11 stops of his own. UP NEXT: The Bulldogs are off until next Wednesday when they host Mount Ida at 3:30 PM and the Raiders return to action on Friday when they visit Salem State at 6:00 PM.
