The Alderson Broaddus men's lacrosse team fell 17-3 to visiting Lenoir-Rhyne Sunday afternoon at the Multi-Sport Performance Stadium. The Bears jumped out quick with a 7-0 run in the first quarter. They continued their spurt in to the second with three straight goals to extend the lead to 10-1 Jesse Worley put the Battlers on the board ripping a shot off a Matthew Amato pass for a man-up tally with 1:39 remaining in the second. Lenoir-Rhyne struck for three straight goals to open the second half and go up 13-1. Jordan Cox stopped the run for AB with a goal assisted by Worley with 47 seconds left in the third quarter. The Bears struck for three more to start the fourth before Cox recorded his second of the game from Jacob Porter to trim the lead to 16-3. Lenoir-Rhyne scored once more in the fourth to set the final. Cox and Worley each finished the game with two points to lead the offense. Joseph Varela made 13 saves for the Battlers. Worley led the defensive effort with three caused turnovers and six ground balls. Varela also scooped up six ground balls while causing a pair of turnovers. The Battlers are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Lees-McReae for a noon matchup with the Bobcats.
