The 16th-ranked Queens University of Charlotte Royals took care of business against South Atlantic Conference opponent Coker securing an 18-13 win this afternoon. With the result Queens moves to 4-3 overall and 4-1 in conference play. Tyler Ewen was an overwhelming presence all game producing a masterful double hat trick leading all scorers on both sides. Quinn Tallant was unrelenting and didn't squander opportunities finishing with four goals and a pair of assists. Kealan Pilon chipped in a quiet four points on two goals and two assists. Once again, the Royals attack trio was integral in the team's success accounting for 66 percent of the offensive output. Ewen kicked things off for the Royals just after the 12-minute mark to tie the contest at 1-1. Queens' offense would fall dormant for the next eight minutes as Coker jumped out to an early 3-1 lead. The Royals found their groove once more with four minutes left in the opening frame as a furious run ensued. Queens produced five goals to close out the quarter including an incredible pair of Tallant goals not even eight seconds part. The Royals held a 6-3 advantage going into the second. The Royals offense then slipped into another eight-minute lull getting out scored 3-1 and allowing Coker to gain some momentum. Queens would come alive at the end of the quarter once again scoring three in the final six minutes to take a 12-7 lead into halftime. The Royals came out of the dressing room with only one thing on their minds. Queens' offense went into a frenzy as the well-oiled machine opened the second half scoring four unanswered goals over the half's first seven minutes. A pair of Royals goals in the last two minutes of the third quarter would cap a dominant showing as Queens took a commanding 18-8 lead into the fourth. Queens failed to score in the final frame, but their 10-goal buffer proved sufficient, as the Royals were able to hold on and see out the 18-13 victory.
